Marche Kermel (Kermel Market) in Dakar

Not far from Independence Square, this is also the place Miss M. does her shopping.

Around Hotel Diamarek

This was where we stayed in Saint Louis. The hotel was located far from the city. It was located in a quiet land strip between the river and the sea.

Saint Louis by a Horse Car

Saint Louis, a colonial city of UNESCO World Heritage Site, is really a nice old city. The landscape is unique, because it is like a small island, with sea at one side, and river at the other side. It is also known as the city of arts since many Senegalese artists or singers are from this city. On the land strip called Langue de Barbarie Peninsula between the protected island and the sea, there is a crowded area, like a slump city, where many people, seems to be fishermen live there. We explored the city by a horse car.

Parc National du Djoud, bird haven

Parc National du Djoud, famous for its migratory birds and number of pelicans, is located north of Saint Louis. Not so special, except for the number of pelicans we met during the boat tour.

Ile de Goree

Located about 30 minutes by ferry from Dakar. It is famous for the slavery history and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. However, the first impression was the amount of souvenir sellers there.

Seafood at Pointe des Almadies

Located at the most west of Africa continent, there were several sea food stalls. We ate 3 types of shell food.
